Quiz time!

I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.

I got five vicious challenging questions from the lovely
red_day_dawning
1. Which HP character is closest to you in personality, and how?
Ooh, tricky. Hmm. I was really quite Hermione-ish in school. Read a lot of books (I read Les Mis and to this day have no idea how I managed that). Had the hair. And the teeth. *glares at Emma Watson for not having The Teeth, damnit*
But then I have two big brothers and tend a little more toward the tomboyish, putting me somewhere towards Ginny (though without the school broomstick tendencies).
I tend to be something of a sidekick - which immediately says Ron. Though less ginger.
But for the sheer amount of geeky crap I spout - a lot of people would say Luna. What do you mean ridiculously oblique comic references mean nothing to you people?
2. What is your favorite book?
Ah, what?! I can't answer that! Have some of my favourites instead.
Aberystwyth, Mon Amour and its sequels. Imagine Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe, the quintessential private eye. See his trenchcoat, his fedora, hear his hardbitten first-person dialogue. See the dames in trouble, the murders, the mysteries. Now, imagine all that in the small Welsh seaside town of Aberystwyth. The world-weary ice cream seller, in his own way a philosopher. The all-night winkle stand. The Druids, who have the town in their pockets. Such is the dark and dangerous world of Malcolm Pryce.
Any James Bond novel by Ian Fleming (and only Ian Fleming). Nobody does it better than Fleming. The description is simply bliss. No one else could describe a man getting his genitals whalloped with a carpet beater with quite such loving detail.
I read the new one by Sebastian Faulks. It just ain't the same.
The Vesuvius Club. I fangirl Mark Gatiss quite unashamedly. And this has one of the best chapter endings ever.
'Well, what was I to do? For the well-bred gentleman there was clearly only one recourse. I fucked him.'
And anything where young men are manly and strapping and go around arm-in-arm because they're 'particular chums'. Books with titles like By Luck and By Pluck.
3. What was your favorite fairy story/fable, growing up a child?
Oh, you ask the hard ones. I always had a bit of a thing for Robin Hood. My grandparents have a copy in their house and I always used to read it when we went up to visit. And the Disney film with the foxes was always one of my utter favourites. (And the new BBC series is ... well ... Guy of Gisborne in his guyliner? Yes please!)
4. Which animal would become your patronus or animagus form - which animal best reflects your personality?
An enthusiastic little puppy who everyone pats on the head and says 'yes, dear' to.
5. Growing up, did you have a culture/nationality that you would have liked to be? (Eg, I thought my parents had stolen me from the gypsies.) If you did, what culture/nationality was it? If you didn't, make one up!
Does 'a Famous Five character' count as a culture? It was probably Enid Blyton's fault that I wanted to be a circus gypsy, anyway. Mr. Galliano's Circus et al. And then I got into Batman and the love that is Dicky Grayson!
